The Floor

The floor has many amenities, including pod-style bathrooms, a main lounge and study spaces, a kitchen, carpeted hallways, awesome people, and easy access to the Schreyer Pocket Garden 🙂

Staying on the Floor after your first year

Students may remain on the floor for up to their entire undergraduate career, so long as they stay involved with the GLOBE’s community and its official events. However, most students who enter the GLOBE as incoming freshmen at Penn State will often stay an average of two or three years on the floor before moving off campus.

Hello! It’s a pleasure to meet you (virtually anyway). I’m a second-year student pursuing a dual major between Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Computer Science as I’m interested in a career in drug discovery aided by machine learning and computational approaches. I’m from just outside of Boston Massachusetts and have spent tons of time in New Hampshire hiking and snowboarding. I love the outdoors — running, camping, fishing — and have a family garden back at home. I’m involved in undergraduate research, the Schreyer pocket garden, and adaptive sports volunteering on campus. Looking forward to getting to know everyone in the fall! In the meantime, feel free to reach out at avb6836@psu.edu to say hi!

Hey! I’m a second-year double major in Environmental Resource Management and History. Given my two majors, my interests are mostly geared towards sustainability, outdoor education, and historical interpretation. I’ve always loved spending time outside – in my free time (when I have it), you will likely find me hiking, backpacking, canoeing, skiing, or whitewater rafting. I also love traveling and learning languages (any French speakers here?) I’m involved with several clubs, including the Penn State Outing Club and EcoAction. I’m so excited to get to know everyone this year! Definitely introduce yourself if you see me in the Lounge, or reach out to me at lrh5490@psu.edu.

Hello! I’m a third-year computer science major and math minor. I am also on the Penn State competitive programming team for the International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC). I’ve always been interested in anything math or comp sci related, from exploring complex algorithms to delving into the intricacies of machine learning and artificial intelligence. My free time generally consists of competitive programming competitions, playing mario party in the lounge, working with startups, watching youtube videos, and going to the gym. Historically, I’ve spent a lot of my time in the GLOBE lounge, so feel free to stop by and hang out there with me. You can also contact me at sml6934@psu.edu.

Hey, good to meet you! I’m a second-year computer science and data science major, thanks to my long-held interest in coding. I’m from the Lehigh Valley and love running, biking, and tennis. Outside of class I love to indulge in my hobby of creative writing, and you might find me in the lounge typing away. Contact me at szt5667@psu.edu, I’d love to chat!

If it weren’t for these fine Penn Staters below, The GLOBE would never have grown to become the outstanding living/learning environment that it is today. Below are some of the annual GLOBE “class photos” since our founding in 2011.
